The Anime Galaxies portal loop: how portals drop from Infinity, how the tiers work, and the 2% Frieza rate with its 100-run pity.

Anime Galaxies — Portals & Frieza gameplay

Portals are the game’s only renewable route to a Secret unit outside the banner, which makes this loop the most-played content for anyone past the beginner phase. It is also where the developer has patched the most in the game’s first two weeks.

The loop

Step one: farm Infinity for a portal

Play Infinity on any map. Portals drop from Infinity waves — the community consistently reports the first map as a fine place to farm them, and the October 24 patch added Namek Portal as the first portal type. A portal lands in your inventory as an item.

Step two: clear portal challenges up the tiers

Opening a portal starts a portal challenge. The tiers climb, and the top tier is the Secret table — that is where Frieza lives.

Step three: replay the Secret tier

The October 25 patch added replay and next if you won, which is the whole reason the loop works: once you reach the Secret tier you can keep re-running it without building back up from scratch.

Frieza’s odds

2% with a 100-run pity

Community reporting is consistent here: 2% per Secret-tier clear, and a 100-run pity. The developer has not published the number in a patch note, but did confirm pity exists by adding a dedicated Freezo (Frieza) pity on October 25, 2026.

Why replay matters so much

At 2%, the expected number of clears is 50 and the pity caps you at 100. Without replay you would be rebuilding the whole ladder every attempt; with it, the run is a straight grind.

What the October patches changed

October 24: portal mode ships

Portal mode arrived with the first big patch, Namek portal only, and the developer immediately flagged that Namek would be improved.

October 25: drop system rework

“Listened to your suggestions and improved portal drop system” — the drop behaviour changed, replay and next were added, and the Frieza pity was added the same week.

Later: what to watch

The developer’s October 27 sneak peek showed portal-related art and said more portals are coming with the next major update. Treat any “best portal” advice older than October 25 as stale.

Who to bring

Shield stripping is mandatory

Portal waves lean on shields. Roger ignores shields outright; Jiren strips them from several enemies at once and is the budget answer; Fujitora breaks them if you own neither.

One control, one carry, one shield answer

The portal-friendly team is Fujitora or Megumi on control, Jiren or Goku on hybrid damage, and a farm unit. Do not bring three pure DPS — the shield waves will walk through you.

Air coverage

Portal waves mix air and ground. Units that only cover ground will watch half the wave go past — see each unit page for when air unlocks.

Is the portal grind worth it?

Yes, if Frieza is your missing carry

Frieza is the community’s top raw-damage Secret. If your team already has a strong carry, the portal grind becomes an evolution farm instead, and raids pay DNA faster.

No, if you cannot clear the Secret tier reliably

A failed Secret run costs the same time as a successful one. Clear the tier below comfortably before you start counting pity.
