The traits guide explains how the crystal milestones work. This page is the decision layer: which trait goes on which slot, and why.
The two traits everyone argues about
Galactic
A large damage increase tied to a single placed unit. It is the highest ceiling in the game and the worst choice if your damage is spread across two or three carries, because the buff does not follow the rest of your team.
Chosen
Damage, cooldown and range without the single-placement restriction. Lower ceiling than Galactic on a dedicated carry, but it lifts the whole team and it is the better pick when you are still moving your carry around.
How to decide
Look at your last three winning runs. If one unit did most of the damage, take Galactic. If the damage was spread, take Chosen. Re-picking is not free.
Per-slot recommendations
Main carry
Galactic on the one unit you always place first after the farm. On Frieza or Goku this is the highest-value trait in the game.
Farm unit
Bounty Hunter if you have it — farm units exist to generate currency, and a farm-slot trait that does not touch economy is a wasted slot. Hyper Speed is the fallback if your farm unit leans on an ability.
Control unit
Hyper Speed — the cooldown reduction compounds into more slows per wave, and control frequency matters more than control damage. This is the standard pick for Fujitora and Megumi.
Support unit
Chosen if the unit’s value is an aura (Roger’s team damage bonus), because range extends the aura’s coverage. Hyper Speed if the value is an ability on a timer.
What not to do
Do not trait a bench unit
Crystals are the slowest currency in the game to replace. A trait on a unit you rotate out is gone.
Do not take Galactic on a support
Roger with Galactic is a common trap: his job is the aura, not his own damage.
Do not assume Hyper Speed fixes everything
It reduces attack-based cooldowns. Fixed passive cooldowns that tick on their own timer are unaffected — check the unit’s kit before you buy the crystal tier.
Traits versus stats
They stack multiplicatively in practice
A Galactic carry with SSS damage and a Chosen support next to it is the endgame shape. Do the stat rerolls on the same unit you trait, because Bond improves the reroll outcome on units you actually field.
Order of investment
- Evolve the unit.
- Reroll stats to SS on the primary line.
- Trait it.
- Atom the stat line to SSS.
Doing it in a different order usually means spending crystals on a unit that then gets replaced.
What is still unconfirmed
The crystal ladder
Third-party guides quote 10 / 30 / 100 / 400 crystals for Rare / Epic / Legendary / Mythic tiers. We could not find that in any official patch note, so check the in-game milestone bar before committing. The trait names themselves (Galactic, Chosen, Hyper Speed, Bounty Hunter) are consistent across in-game UI and player reports.
